The Shimano Dura-Ace RD-9000 Rear Derailleur Cable Guard Pipe is designed to prevent the shift cable from coming into contact with the derailleur body after the cable is routed through the rear derailleurs cable adjuster. This guard pipe will prevent premature wear and friction on the cable as well as protecting the threads within the derailleur body that the barrel adjuster fits into.
